Is it so black and white? Many years ago I knew a couple in the church who had one child. The wife enjoyed singing a solo during the worship portion of the service on a Sunday morning, which she did on a semi-regular basis. She loved the Lord, and enjoyed giving Him glory through her singing. She eventually had a second child, and immediately went into postpartum depression. After six months of ongoing depression, she took her life. That caused a lot of confusion in the Church. In my thinking, God’s Love and Grace could save her… His arm was that long and powerful.

For those who are hurting, those who are confused, those who are in agonizing pain, I believe Jesus is the answer… if you want a change in your life, call out to Jesus… He is in the life changing business. It is said the definition of insanity is to to do the same things over and over and expect a different outcome. The Bible says “draw near to God, and He will draw near to you” (John 4:8); “… seek and you shall find…” (Matthew 7:8); and Jesus said if you obey His teachings, “you shall know the truth, and truth shall set you free.” (John 8:31)

I realize this commentary may be traumatic for those who have lost loved ones. It is not meant to cause more pain. It is meant to save the lives of anybody who reads it. If we have lost loved ones to suicide, we will need to “hope and trust” in a loving and merciful God. But if we call on the Name of Jesus, we will have a reason to live, and can enjoy the Blessed Assurance that the Bible describes in this life. In this life there will be a Hope.

If this article saves any lives, it is worth distributing.

There are other options in life, but suicide is never the answer. I would implore you to explore the above before making a decision. Seek out a Bible believing church, and faith filled clergy, or at least consult a faith filled believer. There is hope for those who will reach for it.
