Be sensitive to the needs around you. Ask the Lord of the Harvest to open your eyes, so you may see.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. (John 15:16)
“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.” (Revelations 22:12)
We know that we are saved only through faith in our Lord Jesus. We do not earn entrance into Heaven through our works. But our Heavenly reward is stored for us, based on how we loved, and gave of ourselves to those in need. Meeting needs, whether through financial or material giving, or giving of our time, or sharing the gospel is an investment in souls, and as such, is an investment in eternity. This is treasure in Heaven.

Years ago I heard the refrain that “you don’t want to be so Heavenly minded that you are no earthly good”. But the Word of God directs us to be Heavenly minded, and this should motivate us to be “earthly good”… investing in our future by meeting needs around us today.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to have eyes to see the needs around us. Help us not to miss the opportunities that present themselves to us. May we develop a real sensitivity to the needy, the impoverished, the orphans, and the widows, the lost and the hurting. Grant me Wisdom and Holy Boldness to know how to do my part ministering within Your Kingdom. Amen.
“They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” (Psalm 112:9)
